Short eared owls (2 Viewers)

I just wondered if anyone could advise a good place to see short eared owls. They are one of my favourite birds but I haven't yet seen one in the wild. I have read that they are sighted on the Wirral which isn't too far away but i'm not sure if they are there all the time. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi

You can see wintering Shorties at Parkgate on the Wirral, which is an excellent site, but probably not so at this time of year.

They nest in the Forest of Bowland and late afternoons can be good to see them hunting at several different sites in this area. Probably most easily seen when feeding young. The moorland above Stocks reservoir can be good for them, and not too far from where you live.
