It's a great day for raptor lovers- Saturday, November 12 is the Avian Reconditioning Center's Annual Fall Owl Fest!
Come see and support the great work done here: the rehabilitation, and hopefully re-release, of birds of prey. And, most importantly, the incredible birds.
There is no way I could pick a favorite out of the birds here. But if you've never seen a peregrine climb and stoop, you have to watch Cora. There is also a gorgeous second year tiercel peregrine-Sparky-who can't fly but is a sweetie.
Also of note is a gyr-peregrine named Gremlin. She is a fourteen year old beauty spending her "retirement" here. If you've never seen one of these-well-she is just really cool.
The site is arc4raptors.org If you plan to visit at another time, check there for hours and to see which birds will be "home" that day.
They are in need of volunteers for this event as well.
