Hello,

which places are interesting for birding in south France.
Look for place near Nice and between Nice and Genua.

I heard near Nice should be interesting Canyons for raptors ?

How is about migration birds end of April and begin of May ?

Which accomodation are recommanded ?
Comfortable is not so important, prefer close to birding spots.

Thank You very much.

Best regards
Dieter

I'm interested in replies to this thread as I will be visiting family near Carros at the end of May.

Dieter, one place I have previously had good birds, Caspian tern, Black winged stilt, Marsh Sandpiper, Cettis Warbler, Crag Martin and lots of Indian Silverbills is where the river Var becomes estaurine at St Laurent du Var. There's a viewpoint by the shopping precinct carpark.
There may be a much better view to be had beyond this point but twice when I tried to get there I got the strong impression its a fairly full on cruising spot. Maybe get there very early.

Thank You for the information.
I visited Carmargue and Gorge du Verdon.
Carmargue had lots of birds especially in the bay west of St. Maires del Mer.
The viewing points are visible on foot from camping place.

Verdon have vulture in the gorge and rocks near Rougon.
On the way to Rougon are some Sualpine Warblers in the forest and bushes.
Bonellis Eagle can be seen sometimes to.
