View Full Version : Hong Kong Fish species

I recently photographed several of these fish at the Hong Kong Wetland centre and understand it maybe a cichlid species possibly some kind of tilapia.
I would however appreciate if anyone can either confirm this or perhaps be more specific about the correct ID.

It's a Tilapia. Hong Kong has two species, both introduced (native to Africa) and both very common in ponds, streams and drainage channels throughout Hong Kong. Based on the striped pattern of the fins I think this one is Nile Tilapia Oreochromus niloticus.
