Feather Identification please (1 Viewer)

Hi my name is Jennifer and I have a slightly sad scenario. My daughters chicken was killed today (Just an FYI, we only have 8 pet chickens that are all black). I am trying to identify the culprit. I found these feathers at the attack site and am trying to figure out if I need to take measures to protect the rest from birds of prey or if a different type of predator is to blame.

I am pretty sure most are chest feathers (maybe?) 1st one is approximately 3 inches long and does have a natural curl to it.

Any opinion would be helpful.

Thanks,
Jennifer
