SIGMA 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX DG RF HSM (1 Viewer)

I don't think it will.

I found this on Steve's Digicams:

Another thing that seperates the two cameras is that the S1 cannot use the newest Nikkor AF-S series lenses in autofocus mode.

These lenses use electrical contacts to pass voltage to the internal focusing motors and processor and to relay data from the lens back to the camera's processor and exposure system. The S1 Pro... relies on a mechanical autofocus drive mechanism.

This strongly suggests to me that the 50-500mm - which, being HSM is the Sigma equivalent of the Nikkor AF-S - will not be able to receive power and AF communication from the camera.

Sigma UK would be able to tell you definitively:

Hi Keith, thanks for your reply, I now know it won't work on the S1, I went out and bought a nikon D50 to go with the lens, works great, cheers,Bert
