robins and red winged bbs sure sings of goodness to come im stoked, Can anyone tell me why the flock of 50 red winged black birds in my yard is all male?

The males migrate first, claim breeding ground, and about a month later (not so far off now - the males started showin' up here around Valentine's day) the females come and pick their mates.
 
Thanks Irish, is it all random or do females find fimilar male flocks in fimilar areas from years past?
