Jura, France (1 Viewer)

Hi Ian,

Some good sites for bidrding in the region :

- Beaume les Messieurs (NE Lons le Saunier) : black and red kite, raptors, alpine swift, crag martin, peregrine falcon and rock bounting.

- Basse Vallée du Doubs (Doubs river) near Petit-Noir (SW Dole) : bee eaters, terns, little ringed plover, stone curlew

- some fishponds and marshes for waders migration late July (lac de Vaivre-Vesoul (W Vesoul but only in the morning in summer), Osselle (SW Vesoul), etang de Frasne (SW Pontarlier), étangs de la Bresse (area south of Saint-Pierre de Bresse) : possibly temminck's stint, purple heron, ducks...

- Massif du Mont-d'Or (near Mouthe) for mountain birds : raptors, black woodpecker, raven, ring ouzel, nutcracker...

You have also the possibility to find rare breeders like short toed eagle or vagrant from south like griffon vulture.

Regards

Tibo
