A Welsh birder in Dorset!
This is a great society to join with over 400 member. It has a great indor program featuring many well known photographer, naturalists and birder. This year (2007) guest speakers include Mike Dilger and stephen Moss.
There is also an excellent outdoor program covering a wide variety of habitats in and out of the county.
For more information about joining visit:

well worth joining for people in the area.

Just in case any members see this, Mike Dilger is the speaker this saturday (27th) at 7:30 in Goytre village hall. Talking about his family and other diseases.
Should be good. (assuming everyone knows who Mike Dilger is? if not hes the bloke that was on Natures calander with Chris Packam, springwatch and hands on nature, i think?)

The next indoor meeting is not to be missed!
10th Feb: Stephen Moss is the guest speaker and the is based on one of his books, 'Everything you always wanted to know about birds but were afraid to ask!' it will be a very informal night with plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
Same time and place as the last.

Really, the trips away are for members of the society as we get a special price for members, its only £12 to join and at the mement you can get 15 months for the price of 12.

The Society's AGM is coming up soon. Its on the 17th January with a talk about Wyeswood Common after the main business of the night is taken care of. It was decided in the last AGM to donate a sum of money to the Wildlife trust to purchase Wyeswood, so it should be interesting to hear how everythings getting on. Theres also a buffet, so bring something nice along (i dont like cheese and onion sandwiches, so dont bring those! lol)
