I noticed that the list from WorldBirdNames included the Lesser Antillean Thrush (Turdus personus) as a species. Using a google search, I found out that they refer to the subspecies of Cocoa Thrush from Grenada and St Vincent, but for example Avibase only lists this as "candidate for split, incipient". Does anyone have more information on this one?

thanks
Niels

Hi Niels,
New information, not really. Supposedly Gill is following for the most part the HM, which has not split the two races involved here (bondi, personus). The relationships of the superspecies including the Turdids, obsoletus, hauxwelli, and fumigatus has been the object of heated discussion in the past, and I daresay we have not seen the light at the end of the tunnel - much of the controversy revolves around if the three mentioned should in fact be considered good species, and if so, there is still quite a bit of dissension regarding assignation of some of the presently recognised races, and to which species? My sense is that we have certainly not seen the end game in interpreting these three difficult species.
