I will be going to South Africa in a couple of weeks to Kruger NP. This might seem like a very vague question, but what kind of birds can I expect? Are there any specialities there?

David,
The Kruger park area has a wealth of birding opportunities. The rest camps inside Kruger have shops that sell bird guides if you don't get round to getting one before. The rest camps are also fabulous for the more common birds like hornbills, glossy starlings, barbets, and doves. The breeding season is just begining so the birds should be at their most showy. If you haven't already look up the Kruger 2 canyons website or the limpopo birding route website (do a google serch) these have loads of info on what you should see in the kruger area. Have fun, the park is amazing.

We went in November 2005 David and had a fantastic time. You can see our trip report here which will tell you day by day what we saw.
