Books on Birds of prey? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I am looking at three different books about birds of prey.
These are:
-The Raptors of Europe and the Middle East: A Handbook of Field Identification (Forsman)
-Field Guide to the Raptors of Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa (Clark and Schmitt)
-Raptors of the world (Ferguson-Lees m.fl.)

Which of these would you recommend?

Stefan

The Forsman by a country mile! I also shelled out the £50+ for the Ferguson-Lees book Raptors of the world and was very, very disapointed - it never leaves the shelf and is essentially an expensive book-end! However I only bird in britain & europe.

I want to know how much is the Forsman's book?

There is only little books about birds in China. And some of then were translated from English edition. so there are almost not books about birds in English, particularly in a specifically bird group.

So there is only limited information that birders in China can reach.

It's very impressive (Ferguson-Lees et al.) compared to some recent bird books and at £49 it's worth every penny.

mind you it was a long time in preparation.... ;)

Lihu,
The price printed on the back cover of the Forsman book is 35 English pounds but you should be able to get it a bit cheaper than that. Maybe you should try and make a journey to the UK or USA and spend a few days looking around the bookshops and spending lots of money. ;)

I appreciate that it must be very difficult when you cannot look through books before you buy.
