Volunteer weeding day at the Kilohana stream forest restoration unit. We worked at removing an infestation of passiflora vines. Kohala doesn't have a very large forested area to support a diverse bird population. 'Amakihi are the most numerous bird, and there were a few 'apapane, 'elepaio, white-eye and leiothrix. Sky larks in the pasture, of course.

On the way back to Hilo I stopped at Pu'u O'o Trail for a couple of hours. It was drizzly in a pleasant sort of way. I counted in several areas and did not detect any of the rarities. It has actually been a little while since I last heard the creeper there.
