An unusual sighting! (1 Viewer)

Today I didn't see any lifers....but I did see an American Tree Sparrow! They aren't unusual here in Ottawa, but they're not supposed to arrive in Ottawa until late September at the earliest!!!! I got a good look at it, and took about five photos to confirm it.

I reported this to the OFNC bird status line. I also reported the female Pintail Duck since I don't see them mentioned in the weekly report that often. Now I just have to post the photos in my other blog!

Great bird, Gillian! Timely reminder of the changing seasons. I miss the A. Tree Sparrows! In Rochester, NY, I used to see them arrive every Fall, taking up the same places vacated by the departing Chipping Sparrows, usually in parks with ornamental evergreens, golf courses with trees, etc. Nice post. I will check back for your photos.
