The Mountain Ash At Kalorama (1 Viewer)

The gum trees at Kalorama not more than seventy years old
But even a young Mountain Ash is a giant to behold
They seem to almost touch the sky standing on the higher ground
And they obscure the mountain scenery for miles and miles around.

The mountain ash at Kalorama they dwarf all other trees
And one can hear them gently soughing in the freshening mountain breeze
And on their higher branches the white cockatoos call
And the laughter of the kokaburra ring out as darkness fall

Across old Kalorama as the nocturnal creatures come out
The boobooks and the powerful owls and the tawny frogmouth
And the brush tail and ringtail possums creatures that hide in the daylight
Climb and move amongst the branches in the darkness of the night.

The mountain ash at Kalorama they stand so very tall
Beside them other tall trees they do even seem small
They seem to almost touch the sky standing on the higher ground
And they obscure the mountain scenery for miles and miles around.
