Genevieve Who Does Not Like House Sparrows

Posted Wednesday 26th August 2009 at 02:11 by Francis Duggan
About the introduced house sparrows she does not have any kind things to say
She says they make a mess of the house eaves and gutterings with their untidy nests of feathers and hay
In their breeding time of Spring and Summer from our garden they chase indigenous small birds away
And they never do seem to stop chirping from dawn's first light till gloam of day.

Genevieve does not like house sparrows though them she would never harm or kill
She says when I wake in the morning they are chirping on my bedroom window sill
They do drive me mad with their chirpings they chirp and they chirp all day long
For small birds they are very noisy the sparrows are bereft of song.

Genevieve does not like house sparrows that fact she does not try to hide
Though they are birds well loved by many and they are well known Worldwide
She does not like them in her garden a nuisance she says they create
And though she'd never kill them or harm them their kind she barely tolerate.

To their chirpings she wake in the morning as day's lamp is brightening the sky
To her they are introduced chirpers and hearing them she does not enjoy
And though sparrows they are loved by many they will never win Genevieve's heart
She just wishes them out of her garden though of her life they remain a part.
