A Memory (1 Viewer)

In a Finnow river pool from here far away
I recall watching dark otters as they fished for prey
In the clear sunlit deep waters they splashed and swam about
As they chased their quick quarry the elusive brown trout
On the river bank amongst the rank rushes I lay ahide
And watched as through the water they effortlessly did glide.
A pair of adult otters their hunt they did enjoy
Quite unaware of their watcher a young country boy
In the quiet waterway a mile from Millstreet Town
Air bubbles rose from the pool as they swam up and down
The young heart in me was racing in delight
As I marvelled at a rare and an amazing sight
And though father time has left me looking quite gray
That wonderful memory is still with me today.
