The moon silently creeping through the starry sky
Whilst in the high woodland the boobook owl cry
And male brush tail possum on a gum gives his harsh mating call
On a calm night in May in the Southern Fall
Of singing Nature's praises could one ever tire
Her nocturnal beauty for all to admire
Out there in the quietness of the moonlit hill
The wild cry of the hunting fox sounds rather shrill
The smaller marsupial and the rabbit and hare
Of the threat that he poses to their lives aware
A calm night in May of a cool ten degrees
With only the faintest sign of any breeze
Save for Nature's nocturnal creatures all does seem so quiet
Were I a poet of such beauty I would write.
