Spoon-billed Sandpiper! (1 Viewer)

At Yangkou,it was high tide on the noon of 17th.We sat at the rideau, waiting for the shorebirds to come closer and closer.I saw a stint with very red breast and head from 30m away.It looked like a Sanderling in breeding plumage. The red is darker than Red-necked Stint. But from the size it looked like a Red-necked Stint more. When it came into 15m,I could see its strange bill--a spoon!!!
Then we knew how to pick a Spoon-billed Sandpiper out of thousands of Red-necked Stints. Finally I found six adult, four in full breeding plumage and two in transitional stage.Did their breeding this year a success?Would there be some juv visiting here?I hope so!
