Each Time I Hear A Chainsaw

Posted Sunday 28th February 2010 at 22:39 by Francis Duggan
Each time I hear a chainsaw in my mind's eye I can see
The felling and dismembering of yet another tree
One less tree for birds to perch and sing on and sleep and build a nest
And one less tree for climbing animals to feed upon and rest
The monotonous buzz of a chainsaw to where I am standing near
Is another human created noise I'd prefer not to hear
Though I too have used chainsaws that I will not deny
And hypocrisy in this instance to me too must...

In Fifty Years From Now

Posted Sunday 28th February 2010 at 22:36 by Francis Duggan
In fifty years from now when I am long dead
Will people still talk of the tough times ahead
Or will climate change have come and have gone
And will life in the Planet as usual go on?

Posted Sunday 28th February 2010 at 22:28 by Francis Duggan
A sunny day in Winter in the coastal city with the slightest chill of Winter in the breeze
The pale eyed ravens in the parkland cawing and none could mistake the song of the pee wees
So good to be out of doors on such nice Winter weather just five weeks from the first day of the Spring
For to enjoy the sights and sounds of Nature such joy that Nature to so many bring
Cloaked in their yellow flowers the wattle trees resplendent a thing of natural beauty to behold

The Sights And Sounds Of Nature

Posted Friday 26th February 2010 at 20:57 by Francis Duggan
I love to hear the rumble of the mighty ocean's roar
As the huge waves wildly crash against the cliff of the foreshore
And I love to hear the skylark carolling upwards as he fly
Till he becomes a speck of music in the sunny Summer's sky.

I love to see young male roos boxing in the morning sun
To them 'tis deadly serious what to us does seem like fun
One day they will challenge the mob leader in what will be a brutal fight
For to mate with...
