On Seeing Red Rumped Parrots

Posted Friday 26th February 2010 at 20:52 by Francis Duggan
Ornithologists seldom talk about them and little written of them for to read
Males mostly green with some yellow in their unders and red rumps they search on the ground for their seed
Their common name is red rumped parrot birds one does not see every day
They live in their own small groups inconspicuous in their own quiet way
Not celebrated amongst the birds of Australia and of their ways few seem to know
But I find them interesting to look at and my wonder of...

A World Without Bushes And Trees

Posted Friday 26th February 2010 at 20:49 by Francis Duggan
'Twould not be a nice World to live in a World without bushes and trees
With the strong stench of pollution blowing in the breeze
Without natural windbreaks from the gale force wind
And no place to shelter for the hairy and the feathered kind.

Wild Daisies

Posted Friday 26th February 2010 at 20:46 by Francis Duggan

Wild daisies distinct from all others the flowers everyone recognize
They close their petals to the night air and open their hearts to the sunrise
Even in the coldest...

you who say that you do not love Nature I wonder about you I do
'Tis sad to think you are not a rare one there are many others like you
You claim that Land for Wildlife should be developed for houses and the old growth trees on them cut down
We are in need of far more houses to add to the size of the town
You do not understand about Nature develop or perish you say
The Greenies you say you do not like of progress they stand in the way
If everybody felt as...

She Is The One Never Destined To Die

Posted Thursday 25th February 2010 at 20:11 by Francis Duggan
To father time the one who never bow
She will be here in a million years from now
My sheer awe of her I never could deny
But to understand her ways why waste one's time to try
The scourge of climate change is now on every shore
But the Goddess of Nature will live forever more
Climate change one might say to her nothing new
As she has presided over quite a few
The Goddess of the Seas and of the Land
Yet her ways are not for us to understand...
