On A Grey Shrike Thrush Singing

Posted Saturday 31st October 2009 at 23:38 by Francis Duggan
The grey shrike thrush is singing in the woodlot
His beautiful whistle so pleasant to hear
One who does rate as one of the finest songsters
Of south east Australia in the Spring of the year.

Once heard his whistle cannot be mistaken
His beautiful music floats out from the trees
A beautiful thing of great natural beauty
Carried along by the freshening breeze.

Grey and brown he does not look very pretty
Yet he has in him...

Another Near To Perfect Day

Posted Saturday 31st October 2009 at 23:33 by Francis Duggan
In the sky the sun brightly shining the blue sky with some clouds of gray
On an afternoon in late October another near to perfect day
The white surf waves are gently rolling one reason no surfer in sight
And the silver gulls on the white beach search for food in the warm sunlight
An artist may well sketch such beauty and writers about it may write
By the coastal Town on the surf beach there is beauty in peace and quiet
Today the ocean is not roaring no big...

Such Beautiful Memories

Posted Friday 30th October 2009 at 22:36 by Francis Duggan
With pikes we tossed out the hay for sun and wind to dry
On warm Summer days in a distant July
Yet in fancy I can get the sweet scent of hay
Wafting in the warm breeze in the heat of the day
The skylark was carolling in the blue sky
He seemed like a small speck as upwards he did fly
Till out of sight yet his song one still could hear
Such beautiful memories to us remain dear
Above their nest in a patch of mossy ground
The brown honeybees...

In The Vastness Of Nature

Posted Friday 30th October 2009 at 22:33 by Francis Duggan
One never is short of things on which to write
Like butterflies flitting in the bright sunlight
Or the pleasant aroma of the blossoming trees
That wafts in the air of the freshening breeze.

In the vastness of Nature I do seem quite small
Like a wee grain of sand to a massive football
And the wonders of Nature are a magical thing
And the praises of Nature I feel happy to sing.

Us humans are part of Nature that's how it seems...

A Beautiful Day In October

Posted Friday 30th October 2009 at 22:29 by Francis Duggan
The flies are buzzing in the sunshine and the little dark brown honeybees
Are busily gathering nectar from the flowers of the blossoming trees
On a beautiful day in October of around 27 degrees
And Nature she is at her calmest with only a very faint breeze
Under the house eaves lined with lots of feathers the house sparrows have their nest of hay
Non singers devoted to chirping they seem to chirp all through the day
Such beauty to inspire poets and artists...
