In October

Posted Sunday 25th October 2009 at 23:49 by Francis Duggan
In the garden the capeweed are blooming amidst the lush green
And roses and flowers in abundance are seen
And cock and hen sparrow to the house eaves nearby
With strands of dried grass to build their straggly nest fly
The blackbird is singing in the bright sunshine
On a day far more pleasant than yesterday's high of 29
And though going by the forecast rain is on the way
It is such a pleasant and beautiful day,
A wonderful afternoon in the prime...

Killarney In Victoria

Posted Sunday 25th October 2009 at 23:46 by Francis Duggan
Killarney in Victoria a place that has a soul
The white waves on the sunlit beach how beautifully they roll
October at it's finest the sunshine in the sky
And the silver gulls are calling as above the waves they fly.

In killarney in Victoria by the Pacific sea
The grey shrike thrush is whistling on a coastal banksia tree
On the second week of October in the prime of the Spring
The rumblings of the ocean near where wild birds chirp and sing....

The Marigolds

Posted Sunday 25th October 2009 at 23:42 by Francis Duggan
The Spring is in her prime now and the lovely marigold
Are blooming in the blackwood shade so lovely to behold
On a warm day in October close to thirty degrees
With the sun glowing in the blue sky and warmth in the breeze
In the breeze the marigold are nodding in their beautiful golden flowers
They came to bloom in the early Spring in the cool September showers
A gift from Mother Nature for to look at and enjoy
I have loved Nature's beauty ever since...

On Clara Mountain

Posted Sunday 25th October 2009 at 23:38 by Francis Duggan
When I was younger, fitter and healthier miles north of this southern shore
I used to climb on Clara mountain above the fields of Claramore
The scenery it was breathtaking of Duhallow's green countryside
And further east into Sliabh Luachra great beauty to be seen far and wide
Caherbarnagh hill and Gortavehy from Clara did not seem far away
And one could see far into east Kerry on a clear and a bright Summer's day
The Paps of Shrone A Sliabh Luachra landmark...

The Beautiful Azalea

Posted Sunday 25th October 2009 at 23:33 by Francis Duggan
The beautiful azalea is a woody shrub that never grows into a tree
But the pink flowers on the azalea are so beautiful to see
In the cool to warm days of October when Spring is in the air
And beautiful Mother Nature flowers on her green cloak wear,
How lovely the azalea in the cool shade of the trees
In her mass of pinkish flowers gently stirring in the breeze
Such a thing of natural beauty for to beautify the Spring
In the nice days of October when...
