The Mighty Goddess Of Nature

Posted Sunday 29th November 2009 at 22:51 by Francis Duggan
The only visible God that's how to me it does seem
The mighty Goddess of Nature she always reign supreme
In woodland and open country in river and in stream
The Goddess of our Planet not one born of a dream.

The miracles of Nature I see them every day
The sparrows with small feathers line their straggly nest of hay
On shed rafters or under house eaves or in a bush or tree
Just one of the many wonders that in Nature one does see.

Back There In Liscreagh

Posted Sunday 29th November 2009 at 22:48 by Francis Duggan
Back there in Liscreagh in the fields of Millstreet
Where the Cails from Kippagh and Finnow waters meet
The white breasted dipper he bursts into song
Where the fast flowing rapids go babbling along.

On the trees where the rivers meet the chaffinches sing
And the countryside looking greener in the early days of the Spring
And the song of the robin melodious and clear
Back there in Liscreagh in late March of the year.

High above...

Mortlake In Drought

Posted Sunday 29th November 2009 at 22:42 by Francis Duggan
The countryside around Mortlake is looking dry and brown

And it has been a year or even more since the dry creek last did flow
But life goes on in Mortlake Town despite the long dry spell
Though the Town traders financially worse off since the farmers are not doing well
And the sheep and cattle in the bare paddocks are losing...

When We Abuse Nature

Posted Friday 27th November 2009 at 22:14 by Francis Duggan
For the burning of fossil fuels there will be some price to pay
A looming Natural disaster some climate experts say
A looming disaster of destruction and death
Climate change than terrorism to human kind is a far greater threat.

Our abuse of Nature is out of control
Our burning of fossil fuels especially coal
From our Earth Mother who feeds us far too much we have stole
When we dig up her ground we root at Nature's soul.

Near Where The Merri Flows

Posted Friday 27th November 2009 at 22:10 by Francis Duggan
The grey shrike thrush pipes on a black wattle tree
Near where the old Merri river winds it's way to the sea
Through the flat and brown paddocks around Warrnambool
In March in the Fall on an evening calm and cool.

Though it rained overnight the landscape looks so dry
And not a rain cloud in the clear evening sky
And the thirsty one el nino is still lurking around
For to suck up each drop of moisture from the ground.

An ageing...
