Until The Day I Die

Posted Saturday 21st November 2009 at 22:22 by Francis Duggan
Until the day I die of Nature I will sing
The chilly days of Winter the birdsong of the Spring
The warm Summer days the freshening evening breeze
The butterflies at play around the flowering trees
The cool days of the Fall when deciduous leaves are turning brown
And drifting to the ground in the parkland of the Town,
Until the day I die I will sing Nature's praise
The marvels of her World never ceases to amaze
I will sing Nature's praise I...

The Undulating Fields Of England

Posted Saturday 21st November 2009 at 22:19 by Francis Duggan
As beautiful a scenery as there is to be seen
The undulating fields of England so lush looking and green
The hawthorn hedgerows snow white in their blossoms of the May
Where the old brook from the high ground to the river winds it's way.

Above the undulating fields of England in Spring the skylark fly

And in the leafy woodlets nesting birds sing all the day

On Hearing A Magpie

Posted Saturday 21st November 2009 at 22:15 by Francis Duggan
In the twilight before darkness the sun has just gone down
The magpie he is singing in the Parkland of the Town
The white backed Australian magpie he has a flute like song
His voice is unmistakeable one cannot get him wrong
Australia's finest songster some have been known to say
One of the few species of birds who sing by night and day
And one of the very few birds who sing all through the year
His song it is so flute like melodious and clear

For February Than Usual More Warm

Posted Friday 20th November 2009 at 23:05 by Francis Duggan
The waterless creek for months has been dry
And the sun blazing bright in the blue Summer sky
Today a humid high of 35 degrees
And the thistledown flying in the warm afternoon breeze
The thirsty El Nino is lurking around
To suck every drop of moisture from the ground
Global warming one might say is cause for alarm
And for February the weather than usual more warm
Not a drop of water in the roadside drain
The dry and bare countryside...

I Come From The Land

Posted Friday 20th November 2009 at 23:02 by Francis Duggan
I come from the Land of the rook and gray crow
And the old rushy fields where Finnow waters flow
By many a hedgerow and many a tree
On to the Blackwater en route to the sea.

I come from the Land where the Cails winds it's way
Through Annagloor, Shannaknuck and old Liscreagh
From it's birthplace the mountain lake by Kippagh hill
It grows to a river from a humble rill.

The clock it ticks on time does not wait for me
And...
