The Rhymes Do Keep Coming

Posted Wednesday 11th August 2010 at 01:36 by Francis Duggan
I must be as lucky as lucky can be
Since the rhymes every day do keep coming to me
Though many years now past my physical prime
I must be one blessed by the Goddess of Rhyme
For thirty six of my sixty three years I've been a rhyming buff
And I'm one who has written a whole heap of stuff
To rhyme to me seems to come so easily
I am not afflicted by soul poverty
I write of people and the beauty in Nature I hear and I see
Like the wild birds...

The One Known As Mother Nature

Posted Wednesday 11th August 2010 at 01:33 by Francis Duggan
The wild birds chirp and sing on the bushes and trees
And the sweet scent of peppercorn blowing in the breeze
I scent and I hear her and her I can see
The beauty in Nature is all around me
Were I a poet of her I surely would write
Poems for others to read and enjoy and recite

The breeding spur...

Fond Memories Of What Was

Posted Wednesday 11th August 2010 at 01:26 by Francis Duggan
The song of the blackbird melodious and clear
A familiar Voice of the Spring of the year
It takes me to places from here far away
To a Northern Land in the prime of the May
In the gathering gloom just after sundown
In the high mountain wood overlooking the town
His kin birds were singing their farewell to day
Good memories do live on as some like to say
'Tis a fact of life and facts do not lie
That good memories do live in us till we...

In Fifty Years From This Day

Posted Saturday 31st July 2010 at 01:36 by Francis Duggan
The animals we choose to eat like the pig and sheep and cow
Than us are not less mortals in fifty years from now
Few will know I ever did exist back to Nature I'll have gone
And the Seasons they will come and go and time will be ticking on.

The past has gone forever and the future is ahead
And in fifty years or far less from now I will be with the dead
The so called successful the famous and the wealthy not that important overall
Since for...
