Singapore Birds

Merry Christmas

Just before Christmas stopped off for a night in Singapore. Went bird watching at two places - the Singapore Botanic Gardens and despite being a Saturday afternoon and lots of people there are lots of birds to see... Goldenback - Woodpecker and on Sunday before I left for Australia and home I went to the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve - an easy ride on the MRT and a less than $10 Singapore taxi ride. Great views of Stork-billed and Black-capped kingfishers, waders, crocodiles,...

Golden-headed Cisticola

Posted Saturday 28th November 2009 at 09:22 by Seashore
Walked down to Cape Banks which is the Northern entrance to Botany Bay in NSW. There is always a group of Golden-headed Cistacolas there singing and chirping in the low scrub. I took a photo of this one.

Seacliff Coast

Posted Wednesday 4th November 2009 at 07:25 by Seashore
My normal daily stroll from home, if I'm not away working is along the waterfront then a slight climb and along the top of the cliff that looks out on the Gulf St. Vincent in South Australia. I get a few land birds; New Holland Honeyeaters, Crested Pigeons, Willie Wagtails (which are a fantail in real life), Galahs, Australian Magpies and Magpie Larks; introduced birds are Blackbirds, Sparrows, Goldfinches, and Spotted Doves. On the coast I see lots of Silver Gulls, Crested Terns, and Pied Cormorants....
