Went to Leighton Moss today in search of a Kingfisher for my youngest daughter.
Saw a gorgeous pair of Bullfinchs at the feeding station and then on to the public hide. On the way there we saw a really brave Coal Tit collecting wool caught in a fence about a metre from where we stood on the path. We also saw a lovely Wren in a tree.
From the Public hide we saw Great Crested Grebe and a pair of Marsh Harriers. We then walked back and drove to the other site where we saw Avocet, Shoveler,...

Went for a walk around Stanley Park yesterday and was delighted to see a pair of Grey Wagtails bobbing around. Was lovely to see the Herons also and even got a sneaky peak at a Goldcrest in a tree hanging over the lake. There was the usual abundance of Great and Blue Tits at the tree stump feeding spot but although I saw a Nuthatch high in the trees, he didn't bother coming to feed. Oh well, a good day.

Another good bird day.

Drove my lovely girlfriend Kate into Preston for an hour long appointment this morning and I took the opportunity to wander around Winckley Square and got some lovely photos of a Jay and an okay Chiffchaff photo. Then we went to Brockholes and amongst other things (tits, heron, housemartins ...) I saw my first pair of Goosanders. A good start

Posted Thursday 11th April 2013 at 09:35 by snakybat
Woke up this morning, looked out of our bedroom window to a bird bonanza!
We have really upped the amount of food we put out and the regular inclusion of apples has really paid off.
Yesterday saw our first ever Blackcap (I was watching a Dunnock just below the window (we live in a bungalow) and suddenly a Blackcap hopped from behind a bush next to him, I was thrilled as I haven't seen one before).
Anyway, back to this morning, the Blackcap was there as was the following; Blue...

What I saw today

Posted Monday 1st April 2013 at 00:45 by snakybat
I thought I would keep it simple.

Went for a walk at Stannah country park this morning. Sat to watch the bird feeder and saw the following; Coal, Blue, Great and Long Tailed Tits, Chaffinch and Goldfinch, Dunnocks, Blackbird, Wood Pigeons, loads of Robins, a Reed Bunting and a Rat (which I had hoped was a Water Vole but I don't think it was).

This is my first blog so I apologise for the simplicity of it. Tired now, sleep....
