Alison Minty

Posted Tuesday 1st December 2009 at 22:48 by Francis Duggan
The greyness of the dawning brings light to the tall gum trees
And there is a pleasant freshness in the gentle mountain breeze
That blows it's way through Monbulk up through the wooded hill
When Nature lover Alison Minty her bird feeders does fill.

A woman who loves Nature one can only visualize
Her in her garden in the morning as the sun begins to rise
Above the tall trees of Monbulk as it lights the morning sky
As she watches the beautiful...

The Death Of A Hare

Posted Tuesday 1st December 2009 at 22:43 by Francis Duggan
He ran across in front of his car confused in the headlight's glare
He heard a bump he could not stop he knew he had killed the hare
Another car followed close behind so he had to drive on
'Twas not his fault though that in itself of no consolation to Ron.

And though the hare he could not avoid about it he feels bad

The Peppercorn Tree

Posted Tuesday 1st December 2009 at 22:38 by Francis Duggan
Such a nice work of Nature and pretty for to see
And pleasant for to scent it's leaves the peppercorn tree

A thing of natural beauty in a garden of the town,
The beautiful peppercorn trees have a style of their own
And only natural beauty in Nature's World known
Had I the gift of poetry of Nature I would write
Of things such as the rich green peppercorn tree lovely in the noon sunlight...

Posted Monday 30th November 2009 at 23:09 by Francis Duggan
When I recall old memories one memory I enjoy
My Summer days with Dan and Mary in green old Lisnaboy
The sweet scent of the meadows in June and in July
On sunny and windy weather when the sun shone in the sky
With pikes we lifted the hay from the rows and shook it out to dry
Whilst to feed their young the parent birds to and from the hedge did fly,
In the burial ground by Cullen church Dan and Mary now lay
And the Lisnaboy that I did know is a changed...

An Ageing Bloke From Claraghatlea

Posted Monday 30th November 2009 at 23:04 by Francis Duggan
An ageing bloke from Claraghatlea is all I'll ever be
Who has travelled far from the old Townland though it would seem to me
That others have travelled far more and more Lands than I have seen
Though that does not prove one's worth as a person to tell of places you have been

To distant from your Homeland that does not seem worth a boast
Though to some great adventurers people have drunk a toast
Some born with the genes of wanderlust inherited from...
