I'd Like To Know More About Nature

Posted Friday 27th November 2009 at 23:06 by Francis Duggan
I'd like to know more about Nature for of Nature so little I know
Though we see the beauty she creates and the beautiful things she does grow
Her rill that is born by the mountain flows downland by many a hedgerow
And it swells into a mighty river and on towards the ocean does flow.

I'd like to know more about Nature for Nature is an amazing thing
The song bird who sings in your garden sings the same song his father did sing
This is just one wonder...

There Must Be A Butterfly Heaven

Posted Friday 27th November 2009 at 22:57 by Francis Duggan
There must be a butterfly heaven for butterflies are free of sin
And the keeper of the gates of heaven will allow them for to enter in
For to flit through the gardens of heaven and to dance in the sun and the wind
There must be a butterfly heaven if there is one for the human kind.

For butterflies of alll shapes and colours for to flit around the flowering bushes and trees
In sunlit gardens where wild birds are singing and dance in the heavenly breeze...

Back There By The Old Finnow River

Posted Friday 27th November 2009 at 22:53 by Francis Duggan
Back there by the old Finnow river the pink breasted male chaffinch sing
And the white breasted dipper sings in the rapids and the first wildflowers of the Spring
Are blooming by the hedgerows and in the sheltered places and new leaves sprout on the deciduous trees
And the old fields becoming much greener and the Wintery chill has left the breeze
On the high fields around Clara mountain the lambs around their mothers play
And the yellow buttercups are blooming...

White Butterflies

Posted Thursday 26th November 2009 at 23:20 by Francis Duggan
Their beauty sad to say will not last long a few days to live that is all
The white butterflies in the garden on this warm day in the Fall
So little time in their bloom of beauty to mate and lay their eggs and to fly
Around the wildflowers and the flowering bushes when the sun shines bright in the sky
Of death they would not have a sense of but a few days in time to them must seem long
Their is so much to learn of Nature though Nature keeps proving us wrong...

In The Twilight

Posted Thursday 26th November 2009 at 23:16 by Francis Duggan
In the twilight of the evening just half an hour before nightfall
The long billed corellas high on the gum trees on their roosting branches do call
On the fourteenth day of the Autumn with an Autumnal coolness in the breeze
I do like these cool and fresh evenings with a high of under twenty degrees.

The possums will soon leave their tree cavities and house ceilings after nightfall they do venture out
The big brush tails and the smaller leaf nest building...
