When we were arriving to our hotel at Santa Elena, a small group of azure magpies permitted to be photographed. It was a lucky thing too. Usually I only can photograph them far away.
The distribution of azure magpies is curious. The main population was in east Asia: from China, Japan and Korea to Baikal Lake in Siberia, and a little group was in the other extreme of Eurasia eigth thousand kilometers away, a fifth of the world distance without existing...

In early October I went to the Natural Park of Despeñaperros. The view on the trail of the Barranco de Valdeazores were spectacular.
It allows to observe the grandeur of this deep cut in Sierra Morena. It is the main pass between the center of Spain Andalusia.
The summit has golden and imperial eagles, but only griffont vultures flew near my camera.
September rains were scarce, so mushrooms were also scarcde in October. We saw some Macrolepiota...

I usually went to Cabañeros National Park in Halloween. This has finished but I will show now the photos of this trips.

Two years ago I had seem a group of 40 early season cranes flying over Alcalá de Henares on 17 October in search of their winter quarters. I were maturing the idea of ​​approaching Cabañeros National Park on All Saint´s Day weekend to take a walk...

This summer I went with my family to see wolves in Sierra de la Culebra. We were in the mountain two dawns and two sunsets to see them. We stood with scopes on a track on the hillside that overlooked the valley.
The first sundown was unsuccesful but the dawn of the next day was successful. At about 8 am four wolves appeared in a firewall between the forest and the scrubland. They stayed resting in the firewall for good time.

At the tip of Illa ostral I began to see whimbrels. They were typical of this place, but I had not seen them until this moment
A couple of years ago there were many curlews and almost no oystercatcher. Now there are a lot of oystercatchers and less whimbrels.
I just saw one sandpiper. Suddenly one of the four egrets who were on the beach flew me out apparently to sea; but I realised later that only was circling the islet.
