Still no sign of the Wallcreeper (but at least there were some Chamois) (1 Viewer)

Hey Dale,
funny birds those Wallcreepers - the other week I was in a incredibly polluted city - that has an elevation of only 300m - this place is in a coal area, so polluted with dust and smoke that that your nose soon turns into a miny coal mine - and out of my Hotel window!!!!!!!!!

So many other places for these birds to hang out - there's still a lot of good, untouched rock-face in this area - and the bird chooses a city slum (looks like theyve been saving on the cement with that brickwork).

At least my first ever wallcreeper was feeding off a nicer building - Mozart's birthplace in Salzburg - now that was a long time ago!!!!

hi China Guy, thanks for the pic and the info.
A wallcreeper in Salzburg! that is incredible!
One was seen on the museum in downtown Vienna last November, and they often frequent rather dull, dirty quarries in wintertime. It seems that during the non-breeding season, they are way less picky about habitat and will fairly often enter what looks like ridiculous habitat to our eyes.

happy birding
Dale
