30th September - Beddington SF

Wandered through the hole in the fence and spent a few hours at the farm. Lots of wildfowl around, Shovler, Teal, Gadwall etc. Met up with Kevin, saw a lone Sparrowhawk hunting. When for a ramble and came upon a Greenshank, about 25 Snipe and a pair of Green Sandpipers...

First time to CA for a while with Jamie....First Common Gulls of the autumn have arrived, always good to see...lots of passerines around, heard Mipits for the first time in a while and a flock of about 100 Greeenfinches!! Highlight though was undoubtedly a pair of Bullfinches. I will make sure I get up here regularly to check them out....

Back to earth with a bump after the Algarve...Took Jamie to Beddington SF, usual lack of people from the group...grrrr....
Some good spots though, 2 pairs of Blackcaps, 2 snipe, GSW, Green Woodpecker, late Chiffchaff. Good numbers of House Martins still around.

16th September - Ashtead/Epsom Common

Posted Wednesday 19th September 2007 at 19:30 by paulwfromtheden
A first, Ashtead Common, and frankly a bit disappointing birdwise, even thoug Jamie and I enjoyed our three hour ramble. Highlight was a great view of a Nuthatch trying to ear a hazel nut and several GSW's. I was after a LSW, but no joy.

15th September - Oaks Park

Jamie and Sandra in tow on a beautiful morning. Highlight was a pair of Blackcaps fliting about in a holy tree, must be a chance they will stay for the winter. Heard a Chiffchaff, and saw a bunch of Mistle Thrushes fighting over a Hawthorne Tree. Also saw a Common Whitethroat, possibly last of the year.
