A Rainy Day In Claramore

Posted Monday 17th May 2010 at 01:49 by Francis Duggan
The swallows that fly above old Claramore
Will soon be on their way to a distant shore
The days growing short and the nights growing long
And the birds of the hedgerows seem bereft of song
And old Clara Hill that overlooks Millstreet Town
Is hiding today in his foggy gray gown
And the stream in brown flood is flowing with a will
Bank high to the river down the field by the hill
And the cool rain of Autumn is drizzling down
On high Claramore...

Late August The Spring Less Than Two Weeks Away

Posted Monday 17th May 2010 at 01:45 by Francis Duggan
Late August the Spring less than two weeks away
Weatherwise so far it has been a changeable day
This morning 'twas raining but now there's sunshine
The rest of the day may be pleasant and fine
The flutings of the magpies carrying in the breeze
And songbirds chirp and sing on bushes and trees
The birds know the Spring to the South is drawing near
And they become territorial at this time of year
Their aggression heightened by their sexual drive...

Such Marvellous Beauty That She Does Create

Posted Monday 17th May 2010 at 01:42 by Francis Duggan
The more I learn of her the less of her I know I do know

All of her life forms including us humans she does feed
Without us she can live though her we do need
Just for our survival yet 'twould seem fair to say
That the...

Just Listen To Nature

Posted Monday 17th May 2010 at 01:38 by Francis Duggan
It rained in the darkness of early morning and it rained yesterday
And the currawongs singing more rain on the way
The weather is changing the birds are on song
Just listen to Nature she never gets it wrong.

White butterflies dancing in the warm sunlight
On this beautiful morning so breezy and bright
But the birds in their songs keep telling of rain
You leave it to Nature she will be right again.

The sun it is shining though...

Lake Pertobe

Posted Sunday 16th May 2010 at 01:43 by Francis Duggan
On the shallow waters of Lake Pertobe waders and water birds abound
The white royal spoonbill with dark legs and long spoon like bill is often seen shuffling around
Bill in water head moving side to side for water dwelling life forms to eat
Such as small fish and shrimps and molluscs that to their taste buds do taste sweet
Where white eyed duck, blackduck, chestnut and gray teal in large numbers are to be seen
For waterbirds Pertobe is a safe haven to a more beautiful...
