Congratulation and very well done with the Crossbills. It is so good to see them I remember my first sighting of them when we went to Aviemore about 8 yers ago[they sure are bruisers]. And about 2 year ago when visiting Dumfries & Galloway we were waiting for one of the forestry info centres to open so went to a landmark a really short distance away called "Bruces Stone" [think there are quite a few around Scotland] and as we parked the car we heard twittering got the bits and pieces out the car and we had came across a large flock making their way along the trees. Ian took a few photos and on closer inspection of the photos afterwards we thought they were two barred Crossbill...but when Ian checked the ID out on here they are a variation with more prominent wing bars of the normal one

Thanks, Marmot!

They certainly are bruisers, the one in your photo looks a toughie! A lovely photo and story of your Crossbill sightings!
