I Do Never Wish

Posted Thursday 11th February 2010 at 09:13 by Francis Duggan
In truth I can say I was a happy boy
And my boyhood years were years I did enjoy
And though happy memories of my youth I retain
I do never wish for to be young again
I never thought then of life's battle ahead
For my joys of life then now within me seems dead
Our innocence long gone before our life's prime
And the bloom of our youth does not last a life-time
To me Nature then was a marvellous thing
On the roadside hedgerow the bullfinch...

A Memory To Cherish And For To Retain

Posted Thursday 11th February 2010 at 09:09 by Francis Duggan
Than the coastal scenery few things seem so fair
The smell of the kelp in the cool evening air
The babble of the waves lapping on to the shore
A sound destined to live forever more
The writers and artists Mother Nature inspire

On A Calm Night In May

Posted Thursday 11th February 2010 at 09:06 by Francis Duggan

The Common Woodlouse

Posted Thursday 11th February 2010 at 09:02 by Francis Duggan
Behind bark or under wood showing signs of decay
He and his kind from the World hide away
Quieter far quieter than a frightened mouse
The one known to many as the common woodlouse.

An armadillo shaped tiny insect he looks blue to gray
Quite harmless he only lives where there's decay
He seems to be shy of the bright light of day
Amongst Nature's compost quite happy to live and to stay.

Hidden from the rain and the sun and the...

Old Banger

Posted Wednesday 10th February 2010 at 19:55 by Francis Duggan
He is a mere mortal one born to die
And in that respect I'm no different to him of that fact I won't lie
Thirteen going on fourteen for a dog that is old
And he has fathered puppies as I have been told.

Perhaps he might live for a year or two more
Old Banger the brown short haired dachshund next door
Gray around the muzzle the years on him tell
But one might say the Seasons he has worn well.

Perhaps his kind the smallest member...
