New Spotting Scope

Posted Friday 15th March 2019 at 05:46 by Otarujef
Trip #: 20
Date: Tue May 29, 2018
Place: Cape Shukutsu, Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan
Time: 16:00
Weather: Sunny, windy.
1. GoSky spotting scope 15-45x60mm F340mm
2. Sony Xperia XZ2 connected to a spotting scope adapter.
Birds & number sighted*():
Pelagic Cormorant (Phalacrocorax pelagicus)*(2)
Japanese Cormorant (Phalacrocorax capillatus)*(25+)
eBird checklist w/map:

First time taking out my new spotting scope.
Not too bad, but very windy on the cape.
So only during calm moments
did I get a clear sighting.
As well, tried the adapter with my cellphone.
I could zoom on the cell as well,
so got in pretty close.
I will have to try in a different environment,
or on a windless day, if that exists.
The Cormorants were out in great form as usual.
