The Old Creek

Posted Wednesday 31st March 2010 at 22:27 by Francis Duggan
The creek from the high country babbles on down
For to join the big river by the old bush town
On it's long winding journey south-wards to the sea
So old who would even know how old it would be.

It's been flowing long before the birth of the first woman and man
The old creek on it does not have a time span
Through the old brown paddocks 'twill flow forever more
To the river that flows to the great ocean shore.

It has inspired poets to song and to rhyme
And it was very old in the Dinosaur time
The Dinosaurs that to extinction have gone
But the creek to the river keeps babbling on.

Us humans like Nature's Seasons to life come and go
But the creek to the river forever will flow
Through the old brown paddocks every night and day
On to the great ocean from here far away.
