After the scarcity of birds in beach Ladeira early summer because most of waders have gone north, in late August had become a bunch of sanderlings, young or in transition to winter plumage that I havent seen before during the summer.

A lovely photo.

I am very fond of Sanderlings and their rapid forays, following the edge of the surf on the beaches along our coast. They are one of the few birds that I see at night on the Longsands, Tynemouth. The streetlights above the beach giving just enough illumination to watch their fast, little legs at work.
