The Old Merri River (1 Viewer)

In and out of Lake Pertobe it winds it's way slow
Then on to the nearby ocean at a snail's pace it does flow
The old Merri that has inspired bards for to rhyme
The river as old as the father of time
In Lake Pertobe Park in the dawn of the day
The silver billed magpie in his cloak of dark and gray
Pipe his beautiful music melodious and clear
His kind known to sing every day of the year
The most of the Winter days chilly to cool
At Lady Bay near the Town of Warrnambool
Near where the Merri river crawls into the sea
Such beauty to live on in one's memory
And were I a poet a poem of such beauty I'd write
For lovers of poetry to read and recite.
