new bird sighting-Nov 2010 (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone, we are new to this forum, but have been " birding" for 20 years...feeding all kinds of birds in our back/front yard...have apx 20 dif species, and more every year..Last week we saw a BELTED KINGFISHER ( FEMALE) ...how exciting...we live on the South SLope in Burnaby..also ...this just in...TODAY.. saw a return of our VARIED THRUSH... does anyone else have this bird in their garden?? we have had them 4 years in a row & feel very blessed...also..our hummingbirds still active at our feeder, which i kept from freezing, by cutting hole in heavy socks & slipping over the feeder// we are going away for a month, tom. so am very worried about birds,,,in this cold weather..can only hope the neighbours will fill my suet & other feeders while we're away. so..if you have any ???? for us, will not be able to answer till after Dec 21. meanwhile..happy birding from judy & paul
