Too Complacent?

Posted Wednesday 7th October 2009 at 06:22 by BoatBirder
Since arriving back from my trips to Spain and France I've completed several visits to Brandon Marsh but without any positives on the migration front.

I was sitting in the hide this morning with other members of the 'Tuesday Bunch' on a thoroughly dank and miserable morning complaining of the lack of migrants recently, when the word complacency was uttered!!

Goodbye To The Old hill

Posted Wednesday 7th October 2009 at 00:23 by Francis Duggan
Goodbye to the old hill of wallaby and roo
And to the familiar call of the weerloo
And farewell to the paddocks so stony and brown
North, south, east and west of the old country town,
Goodbye to the few that I did get to know

The wind blows them elsewhere where they germinate
And one thistle flower many thistles create.

But of the worthlessness of thistles can one really be sure
For in the milk of the thistle for some ailments a cure
A weed to one to another is a flower some say
We all do look at things in a different way.

The seeds of the thistle...

So Much To Write About Of Mother Nature

Posted Wednesday 7th October 2009 at 00:08 by Francis Duggan
So much to write about of Mother Nature
Her beauty all around us night and day
One could talk about her till the call of the reaper
So much of her to write of and to say.

So much to love about in Mother Nature
She is all around us everywhere to see
Her beauty keeps on changing with her Seasons
There is not one as beautiful as she.

This simple rhyme I dedicate to Nature
The Queen of Planet Earth from pole to pole
