The bulk of storks that stayed here (or I think they did) for several weeks seems to have left.

This flock looks like they just arrived. Bedraggled and tired.

Arenít they a bit late? Maybe they should take a plane home

Around Lunch time when I was walking the dogs, I saw this guy perched on top of a Lamp post.
I didnít have my camera with me. I should know better by now, during migration time.
By the time I came back from the house with the camera, he was gone.

This afternoon I went for a walk around the compound with the dogs - with my camera, to look for this guy....

Purple Heron visit

Just after waking up this morning, hubby told me that thereís a big bird on the football field.
For hubby that can be anything from a crow to a heron.
In this case it was a Purple Heron.

I just managed to get up, get my cam, switch the lens to the 200mm and put in a new battery and take one crappy shot (and a few more real crappy ones in...

Blue Swallow, Hirundo atrocaerulea, Stahlschwalbe

I saw this metallic blue Beauty when we drove down the Nile
to our Lunch boat.

After Lunch I couldnít resist and tried to get a shot.
This is the Best I could come up with.
Well, better than nothing.

Iís a Lifer for me and so, Iím most def. happy :)

Laughing dove, Palmtaube, Streptopelia senegalensis

There are lots of these around our compound.
Mainly hanging out in the Zoo area.

Lots of other pigeons and various doves as well.

When the sun rises, you can see two huge flocks of doves and pigeons take off.
A few minutes later a flock of at least 30 Cattle Egret takes off.
They are here since about 3 weeks.
