It Is Not A Nice Memory

Posted Sunday 16th January 2011 at 00:05 by Francis Duggan
It is not a nice memory with others to share
The painful loud shrieks uttered by a dying hare
Under a starry sky in the faint moonlight
In the mouth of a fox in the dead of the night
When Nature receives she also does give
The hare has to die for the fox for to live
And in Nature the game of life and death between predator and prey
Is played out every night and played out every day
In all parts of the World on land, in sea and in the sky...

In The Town By The Bay

Posted Saturday 15th January 2011 at 23:58 by Francis Duggan
The children in the park playground do laugh whilst they play
'Tis sunny today in the town by the bay
The flute of the magpie melodious to hear
The bird that does sing every day of the year
Of the beauty around me a poet would write
A poem for others to enjoy and read and recite
With a nice sort of warmth in the sunshine and the timid breeze
Gently soughing it's way through the bushes and trees
In the post New Year holiday weeks in January...

In Towerhill In Koroit

Posted Saturday 15th January 2011 at 23:50 by Francis Duggan
The birds chirp and sing in the dawn clear and gray
In Towerhill in Koroit for to welcome the day
High above the stone cliffs in the southern sky
The great wedge tail eagle has death in her cry
On the lake roadway lookout overlooking Towerhill
The lake and it's surroundings to view almost still
A small mob of roos and four emus graze in the scrubland
Some two hundred metres below from where i stand
In awe of Nature in all of her splendour overlooking...

Far From The Noisy Town

Posted Saturday 15th January 2011 at 23:45 by Francis Duggan
The human crave for success and recognition seems too much for me
To be a better person is all i can wish to be
And those in need of helping i will help if i can
Make the World better to live in make myself a better man
The crave for material things such as wealth and fame
As well as all things such lead to that one well might name
Has reached a new height in the Human World of today
Many have become enamoured by self or it does seem that way

They Are known As The Common Mynas

Posted Tuesday 28th December 2010 at 23:52 by Francis Duggan
They are known as the common mynas because in their range they are a common sight
Dark brown birds not ugly to look at they look pretty in the sunlight
Often seen in towns and cities and suburbs their numbers seem to multiply
They surely are Nature's survivors that much of them none can deny
Familiar in their range to many by their appearance and scratchy song
Once seen and heard quite unmistakeable one never ought to get them wrong
Looked upon as a pest...
