A True Friend Of Nature

Posted Sunday 9th May 2010 at 00:45 by Francis Duggan
Not even well known locally yet about him much to like
A friend of the environment his main transport is his pushbike
With him there's little carbon emissions he cycles to and from work every day
He does not have a car or a motor bike environmentally conscious in every way
He does not eat fish or meat products such is the sacrifice he does make
For the love of his beloved Earth Mother a vegetarian for her sake
A person with a great love of Nature he knows...

The Old Country Roads Of The Bushlands

Posted Sunday 9th May 2010 at 00:41 by Francis Duggan
The old country roads of the bushlands where paddocks are wide bare and brown
In a land sparse in trees even gum trees many miles from the nearest big town
The beautiful song of the magpie is carrying in the freshening breeze
On a sunny April morning in mid Fall with a temperature high of twenty degrees

The Stony Hill Of Mt Rouse

Posted Sunday 9th May 2010 at 00:37 by Francis Duggan
The stony hill of Mt Rouse in it's Autumn shades of brown
Stands quietly overlooking the streets of Penshurst Town
From the old hill by Australia's first people referred to as Kolor many centuries ago
Red hot lava like a burning river down it's stony face did flow
The First Australians living in the foothills must have watched on in awe
And they must have felt quite frightened and amazed at what they saw
The volcanic hills of the Southern Grampians are very...

Why Birds Sing

Posted Sunday 9th May 2010 at 00:30 by Francis Duggan
In their breeding Season birds have their borders to defend
And their own kind to them they don't treat as a friend
'Tis not of a sense of joy or for love of the Spring
But for to proclaim his borders that the male bird does sing
In their breeding Season birds sing all day long
And not love but aggression they have in their song
Their song born of aggression out of their sexual drive
In Nature the strongest and fittest survive
In the Bird World...

April In Annagloor

Posted Saturday 8th May 2010 at 01:07 by Francis Duggan
The weather for April is windy, wet and poor
But the nesting birds singing in old Annagloor
And the old fields resplendent in their Nature's flowers
And the grass lush and green from the recent Spring showers
The unmistakeable loud caw of the gray hooded crow
And the moorhen calls to her young where the Cails waters flow
By ditches bordered by trees and by many a hedgerow
And through very old fields where rank rushes grow
April in Annagloor...
