She Is The Great Goddess Of Nature

Posted Wednesday 5th May 2010 at 00:28 by Francis Duggan
Her beauty it is all around us the beautiful Goddess supreme
And those not aware of her presence not very observant 'twould seem
Her wildflowers of all shapes and colours her blossoming bushes and trees
The songs of her beautiful wild birds that carry in the freshening breeze.

That blow through the parks and the gardens and across the streets of the town
In the calm of the day before twilight an hour or less before sundown
The artists inspired to...

My Great Love Of Nature

Posted Wednesday 5th May 2010 at 00:23 by Francis Duggan
My verses may seem slipshod not even poetry
But my great love of Nature you cannot take that from me
And who could not but love Nature on a day like today
In the blue sky the sun shine amongst clouds woolly gray
Such beautiful weather around twenty degrees
Nature's birds are singing on the bushes and trees
The coolness of Autumn in the freshening breeze
And the buzzings of flies and nectar gathering bees
About the beauty around me a poet would...

By The Millstreet Road To Rathmore

Posted Wednesday 5th May 2010 at 00:19 by Francis Duggan
Far north of this southern Country far inland from the Atlantic shore
The moon tonight is shining on the roadway to Rathmore
And in Donal Hickey's Inch Field the hunting vixen cry
Her fast growing cubs are hungry in their den somewhere nearby.

Under the Townhill bridge at Millstreet on the road to Rathmore Town
The old Finnow is gurgling in the moonlight babbling down
Through Inchaleigh and Claraghatlea by ditch and by hedgerow
On to the great...

Old Shadow The Cat

Posted Wednesday 5th May 2010 at 00:14 by Francis Duggan
Her whiskers in her prime years dark have turned a silver gray
Old Shadow the black persian cat has known a better day
She has not caught a rodent or bird for somewhile now this once nimble beast of prey
No longer what she used to be that's life as some might say.

When she gave birth to three kittens going back ten years ago
She was taken to the vet for to be desexed by her former owner Joe
She has been with Kate for three years now old Kate is eighty...

One Could Call Me

Posted Tuesday 4th May 2010 at 00:48 by Francis Duggan
One could call me a bit Of a rhyme buff
And I have written heaps of rhyming stuff
I do not have any designs on literary fame
And praise and scorn to me seem much the same
Though few my verses do read or recite
I only write because I love to write
You never hear me say I am a poet
That I do leave to those worthy of note
The gift of loving Nature I enjoy
And I have loved her since I was a boy
Her I have to thank for moments of happiness...
