1) Cough it up
I'd seen a Nutcracker in my own garden a few days before and wondered what s/he was doing there, what with the nearest pine tree being at the far end of the street. Then I got a close-up, long photo session with this 'cracker caching pine nuts. They're very watchful when doing this. The Rooks, Crows, and Jackdaws are hanging around keeping an eye on the process, then they fly in and try to steal the 'crackers' pine nuts. I'm sure they're occasionally successful too. But apparently this 'cracker didn't see me as a threat ... or simply didn't see me?

lucky you to have them in your garden, Ann, I have to go above 1500 m to see them. excellent behavioural capture, many tfs!!
