1) From the Gadwall pond (Anas strepera)

Next day was my last whole day in A'dam. We'd discussed our article and our book plans the day before, decided we'd made enough progress for that week and settled on a plan for the coming months. Then while my co-author and his wife prepared a dinner, I was sent out to look for a bird tower that had been recommended by one of his students. I found my way there and could sort of see where the area was, but couldn't find a path down off the bridge where the bus dropped me off. Back and forth, back and forth, not seeing a path, but passing pond after pond of water fowl. The birds seemed to have sorted themselves out. One pond had a big flock of Gadwalls, of which these two swam fairly close below me as seen from the bridge.

This pair seems to be on the same mission, Ann. Lovely timing to capture both of them in the same action.

Delightful shot!
