1 of 2: 1/20 sec & 36% of size (Columba fasciata)

Following forum discussion of monitor shades AND "hand-holding vs. mounts": I had made the comment I routinely shoot at 1/30 sec now that I've switched to a mount and remote (or cable rel. same). These were a cute cuddling couple by the way. Shot 1 is reduced to abt. 36% of orig. size then cropped as shown; fairly "loosely" around the main subjects. Photo 2 is provided to emphasize why one would want more Megapixels in a camera. It's abt. 80% of full size and so cropped very tightly around the now large heads of the birds. Because the camera has 6 MP you can still get pretty good detail in a close crop like photo 2, because you have more pixels in the smaller tightly cropped area than with say a 3-4 MP camera. I can well imagine that zooming a 3-4 MP camera closer in on the heads would get the same result, but limit you to the "pre-cropped" or zoomed-up version of the shot.
