I got a number of shots of each phase of this process, but these three are actually successive shots from a burst. So this is the same pine nut as in "Cough it up".

A super series of shots showing the nutcracker's behaviour. I like this image very much, Ann. Great detail. You can imagine the glee in the bird's shining eye.
